Join the College Arts + Humanities Institute and our campus and community partners for a special celebration honoring the extraordinary life of Alice Wong 王美華 (1974-2025), a visionary writer, editor, community organizer, and the founding director of the Disability Visibility Project.

Per Alice’s spirit, this will be a joyful, inclusive, multi-modal, participatory, and accessible gathering. From 2:00-3:30pm, we will be live-streaming her official celebration of life from San Francisco, hosted by Calling Up Justice and San Francisco Disability Cultural Center. Activities will include an interactive pop up “altar” for attendees to contribute creative offerings, tasty snacks, and local speakers reflecting on Alice’s impact and legacy. Come for a short while or stay the entire afternoon!
ASL interpretation and CART captioning will be provided.
Event program:
- 1:00 PM – Introductory remarks and local speakers
- 2:00 PM – Livestream begins
More program details to come.
This event is presented by the College Arts + Humanities Institute with generous support from the IU Arts & Humanities Council, the Asian Culture Center, the Asian American Studies Program, the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, the American Sign Language Program, and Hoosier Asian American Power.
