Kurt Vonnegut in the USSR
The College Arts + Humanities Institute and Granfalloon present a Meet the Author talk with Sarah D. Phillips (Anthropology) in conversation with Russell Scott Valentino (Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures) about Phillips’ recent book, Kurt Vonnegut in the USSR (Bloomsbury, 2026). Please join us for a reception following the discussion.
Sarah Phillips is an anthropologist with wide ranging interests. Most days she is a Ukraine expert focused on disability, migration, and inclusion. Some days she dabbles in histories of Soviet-American literary cultural diplomacy (the result: the book Kurt Vonnegut in the USSR). On other days she's a Dolly Parton super fan hoping to write a book on Parton as an American cultural icon.
This event is made possible with support from the College of Arts + Sciences and the Ruth N. Halls Humanities Fund.
