CAHI Global Gateway Grants are administered jointly by the College Arts and Humanities Institute and the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs (OVPIA). For College faculty whose primary area of research or creative activity is in the arts and humanities, these grants support activities that take place at one or more of IU’s Global Gateways (currently in Bangkok, Beijing, Berlin, Mexico City, and New Delhi).

Preference is given to proposals for activities that will lead to continuing research or creative collaborations, build on existing or create new strategic partnerships, or that promote institutional development projects. Appropriate activities include conferences, workshops, or creative performances that feature international collaboration.

Application materials:

• Budget and description of any funds committed from other sources
• Curriculum vitae
• Letter of support from department chair, dean, chancellor, or other unit head

Narrative statement:

Provide a 1-2-page (double-spaced) statement that describes the proposed activity, addressing the selection criteria above, and includes the following:

• Provide details of the participating individuals from IU and external institutions.
• Describe the links between your unit/department and any partner institution(s) in the Gateway country/region.
• What are the benefits of collaborating with a partner institution at the Gateway?
• What is your preferred date/time for the activity?
• If funds have been committed from other sources (see funding rules below), provide details.

Eligibility:

Tenured and tenure-track faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences whose primary area of research or creative activity is in the arts and humanities.

Funding rules:

Together, CAHI and OVPIA will provide grants up to $10,000. Mild preference may be given to applications with funds committed from other sources, e.g. applicant’s department or school. CAHI Global Gateway Grants cannot be combined with CAHI Research Travel Grants or other OVPIA grants for the same event. Funds are earmarked for faculty travel and accommodation only.
