CAHI offers a wide array of funding opportunities for faculty members to pursue research and creative activity in the arts and humanities, including fellowships and grants for travel, support for workshops and symposia, and more.
Faculty Funding
Application review process
Applications are evaluated by a Fellowships Committee convened by the CAHI director and composed of experienced College faculty members selected from various areas of the arts and humanities. Reviewers ideally serve a two-year term. Every application receives at least three separate reviews, and applications making it to the final shortlist are read by the entire committee.
Because CAHI serves the research needs of the College and because allocations of CAHI monies are determined in most cases by faculty panels, there will from time to time be potential conflict of interest concerns as related to applicants and adjudicates. To pre-emptively address such concerns, we ask all reviewers and members of the leadership team (director, co-director, advisory board) to recuse themselves from decisions about funding in cases of familial relationship or other connections that might be perceived as a conflict of interest.
Normally, awards are announced by December 15 (Fall applications) and by April 15 (Spring applications). All applicants are welcome to inquire with the director for feedback about their applications and reasons for decision.
