Founded in 2015, the IU Arts & Humanities Council promotes creative expression and scholarly inquiry on campus and throughout the Bloomington community. The Council’s mission is to make the arts and humanities inevitable and essential to the educational experience of our students and the cultural life of our campus. The Council coordinates efforts among several dozen campus units to present the monthly First Thursdays Festival on the Arts Plaza and the Global Arts & Humanities Festival each spring semester, which has included India Remixed and China Remixed. In 2018, the Council launched its inaugural summer festival with Granfalloon.
